Passion for Logistics

My heart has always been in logistics. From 1998 to 2019, I lived and breathed freight forwarding and logistics – starting as a trainee and eventually becoming an authorized signatory and shareholder of a medium-sized company with eight branches and about seventy employees. After selling this company to a large corporation with over nineteen thousand employees in 2016, I continued my career as Director of Sales and International Business Development.

Realizing a New Path

However, deep down, I knew that corporate life was not my calling. During my international client visits, I frequently received requests from foreign companies asking for assistance in finding potential buyers or suppliers. Colleagues from other forwarding companies also approached me with similar requests. These experiences highlighted the significant demand for a network that goes beyond traditional offerings. In response to these needs, I founded my own trading company in 2012 to meet the needs of customers and leverage my extensive experiences from international sales activities and client meetings. This role allowed me to gain valuable insights and recognize the significant demand for a network that provides real added value.

Expertise in Freight Forwarding Networks

Through my involvement in up to six different freight forwarding networks with our former company, I became an expert in this field. We were founding members of several networks, and I personally served on the advisory boards of some. This deep involvement gave me a clear understanding of what works well and what doesn’t, separating successful strategies from mere window dressing.

The Birth of WorldRing

Motivated by many long-standing business partners and the desire to create something unique, I decided to establish my own international freight forwarding network. I had no interest in replicating what hundreds of other networks were already doing. During a train ride to Stuttgart, the final, groundbreaking idea came to me: a network that includes both freight forwarders and their customers. This led to the creation of WorldRing and the WorldRing Marketplace, an online platform where business inquiries are consolidated and efficiently matched.

Launching the Vision

In 2019, the vision took shape, and on February 1, 2020, WorldRing officially launched. Thanks to the support of twenty-three founding members from the freight forwarding world who had already signed their agency agreements, I was able to start motivated and confident. Shortly thereafter, however, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, significantly impacting the network’s start. Despite this challenge, we managed to persevere, and WorldRing has since established itself as a reliable and successful network in the international market.

Bridging Tradition and Modern Technology

WorldRing combines the best of tradition and modern technology. We promote successful trade relationships through personal contacts and business relationships, connecting small and medium-sized enterprises from developing and emerging countries with Western industrialized nations. My heart beats for SMEs, and I see immense potential in opening up new opportunities and perspectives for these companies through WorldRing.
